Jongeren participatie schoolkantine

  • Goals: Through involving young people and showcasing their ideas with sustainability in mind, this led to a structural imbedding at the nutrition centre to facilitate schools in making this possible.
  • I4Nature Process: I4NATURE concocted a design challenge with more than 500 young people in NL , in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV), the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) and the Nutrition Centre, to improve their own canteens with their ideas to make the role of young people permanent in the school environment.
  • Youth engagement: Young people were able to have their voices heard in this unique project in the school environment.
  • Result: This led to structural embedding at the Netherlands Nutrition Centre to facilitate schools to enable these changes.

I4NATURE joined forces with the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV), Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) and Netherlands Nutrition Centre. A design challenge for young people was formed to improve school canteens. More than 500 young people in the Netherlands came up with different ideas to improve the school canteen by looking at what you need to live a healthy life. Inspired by the design principles and Dutch Design Week, young people tested ideas with students and schools, making sustainability an important factor. This led to structural embedding at the Netherlands Nutrition Centre to facilitate schools to actually enable these changes. It was great to see how the young people made the world of health, nutrition, food and exercise come together.
